HELLO!
My name is A.B. Moore, and I use they/them pronouns. I was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1990, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina with a lot of pets and play-dough. I started tattooing in 2013 as an after hours hobby with a gifted starter kit and a coil machine a friend found in our attic in Baltimore (thanks Matt! Thanks Chris!) after four years studying painting and dabbling in sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art. In art school, I learned that I enjoyed illustrating album art for local bands and designing posters for community events way more than painting, and switched focus to screen-printing and a couple indie publishing projects. Tattooing filled my odd hours in living rooms and basements between restaurant shifts, but gradually became a reliably consistent creative outlet, and an emotional and financial lifeline during a difficult time in my life. A couple years after graduating, I moved to California without much of a plan, but tattooing got me there and kept me going. When I could finally quit my day job, I moved to Portland, Oregon, where I have been working as a full time licensed tattoo artist since 2017. In 2018, I joined a handful of other artists to open Constellation Tattoo Collective, a small private tattoo studio that is collectively owned and operated by queer trans artists, a majority of whom are QTPOC (I am white and identify as non-binary.) In 2022, I joined Daffodill Studios, where I plan to dive back into a ceramics practice.
I live with a bunch of friends and a whole lot of animals and plants right outside of Portland, and have a cat and two rat children in my care. I love country and emo music, horror movies, ghost stories, folklore, antiques, beach-combing, van camping, old buildings, unexplained mysteries, working with my hands, identifying animals, mixtapes, all my gay friends, tourist traps, rock collecting, road trips, and shooting with film. Iām trying to get back into ceramics.
I have a CV available upon request.
